Whoops, I meant #3… do you think India plays the short ball well?

Hmm let’s see. If we really had serious problem with short balls. Bowlers around the globe would have just bowled short balls 24/7 each and every single match. But they don’t because they rather ball Full Swinging away deliveries or good length swinging in deliveries, which gets you more wicket than short balls for sure. 🙂

And just for fun fact, I thought it was SRT and Viru perfected Upper Cut shot, which is Short and kind of bouncer as well. How do we explain that? With height of VVS he has dispatched many many many bowlers over midwicket region whatever short balls darted at him. I have seen Yuvi smashed almost one handed hip height short balls out of the park, Dravid has one of the best Pull shot around the cricket globe.

And about problem having with short ball in bouncy pitches, my question is, which team doesn’t have that problem? 😛

True, true. I think the only short ball problems are with Raina and Rohit Sharma, and even then it is only a problem in a shorter format like T20. The experienced guys handle it well anyway!

Sometimes, Raina and Gambhir do get hurried when they are directed with short stuff into their body… but other than that, I really don’t feel that the Indian batsmen don’t play short ball well!

After seeing Gauti in SA, I think he will be fine with short balls darted at him, but Raina and Gauti are whole different animals in Shorter Format. Raina is still young, will improve a lot once major responsibility be given and stop playing under shadow of other Mammoths around him.

I have to agree with you about Gauti’s performance in South Africa… he did hold his own, especially in the Test series with a few crucial contributions. So in the shorter formats and Indian conditions, it shouldn’t be a lot of trouble!
